Frequently Asked Questions
How do I calculate a percent-off discount?
Sale price = original × (1 − discount/100). Amount saved = original × discount/100. E.g., 20% off $100 = $80 sale price, $20 saved.
How do I find the original price?
Original = sale price ÷ (1 − discount/100). If the sale price is $80 after 20% off, the original was $80 ÷ 0.8 = $100.
How do I add sales tax to a discounted price?
Open Advanced and enter the tax rate. The calculator applies tax to the post-discount price to show the total out-of-pocket cost.
